You're reading: About Salute
The mere mention of the Indian Armed Forces brings to mind tales of exceptional valour in defending the
country’s inhospitable borders, memories of thousands who laid down their lives to secure our comfort and
happiness, besides countless other patriotic sentiments. Very often, however, we take the presence of these
tireless sentinels for granted, forgetting that we owe to the soldiers and their families something in return;
that we should contribute in some way to add cheer to their lives and also communicate their achievements,
opinions and expectations to the public at large.
Pioneer Publications is therefore extremely proud to relaunch SALUTE – to the Indian soldier, a monthly magazine,
which acts as a forum for interaction between the Armed Forces, their families and India’s civilian population.
Salute has been published since 2008 and carved a niche for itself among the defence forces, their families,
equipment-suppliers to the military establishment, strategic affairs experts and all others concerned with
defence of the nation.
Mr Maroof Raza, perhaps India’s most well known defence expert who comes from a distinguished Army background
and is a regular commentator on national television, along with a highly experienced editorial team led by Air
Commodore Prashant Dikshit, VM (retd.); Salute has received wide acclaim for its unique blend of quality coverage
of military affairs, focused on various Commands, Regiments and other units of the three wings of India’s Armed
Forces. Apart from highlighting the achievements of the Forces, both in war and times of peace,
Salute also accords special place to the families of servicemen, bringing out their accomplishments,
joys and sorrows and desire to communicate with the world outside military establishments.
